Bhubaneswar: In a massive hack, the phone numbers of 53 crore Facebook users are up for sale on a Telegram bot. The list contains 6 lakh Indian users.
A security expert, Alon Gal, co-founder and CTO of cybersecurity firm Hudson Rock, reported the glitch.
“It is very worrying to see a database of that size being sold in cybercrime communities, it harms our privacy severely and will certainly be used for smishing and other fraudulent activities by bad actors,” Gal said.
The Telegram bot can identify a person’s Facebook ID using the phone number and vice versa. Users can get a phone number for anywhere between $20 to $5,000.
This vulnerability was earlier identified and patched, but it has been hacked again.
