Mumbai: Digital payments platform PhonePe became the most downloaded fintech app in India in November, dethroning Google Pay.
PhonePe got over 9 million downloads in Android and iOS, while Google Pay was downloaded 8.18 million times in the same month.
The competition has been neck to neck, with PhonePe overtaking Google Pay once in July, and in November.
Globally, however, Google Pay is ahead.
Paytm, Indiabulls Dhani and YONO SBI occupy third, fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
Flipkart-backed service PhonePe is also looking to hire 700 more people in the next 3-6 months. Currently, its total strength is 2200.
