Nayagarh: A physically-challenged minor girl was allegedly raped by a 48-year-old man at Itamati village in Nayagarh district.
A complaint in this regard was lodged by the parents of the survivor at Itamati police station on Thursday alleging that one Duryadhan Sahu had raped their daughter and impregnated her.
On receipt of the complaint, police swung into action and arrested the accused.
“The accused, according to the girl’s parents, had confessed to the crime before the gram panchayat. He will be forwarded to court,” a police officer said.
Medical examination of the child will be conducted following which she will be kept in a short stay home, the officer added.
According to information, Sahu had allegedly raped the girl when she was alone in her house. The girl’s father, a daily-wage labourer, was out on some work when the incident happened.
Though the incident took place four months back, the matter came to the fore after her parents found out that she was pregnant.
