Bhubaneswar: Senior lawyer Pitambar Acharya took charge as Advocate General of Odisha on Monday. Acharya was appointed to the post by the state government on Friday with a formal notification issued by the Law Department.
Upon assuming charge Acharya expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for reposing confidence upon him for the constitutional post.
“I will discharge my duties without any fear, fervour, and bias to ensure justice for people of Odisha,” he said.
Acharya highlighted that the state government is committed to justice for all sections of the society in a hassle-free manner. “I will work with full dedication towards this goal of the government,” he added.
An Advocate General is the legal advisor to the state government. As the highest law officer of the state, he is responsible to advice the state government on the legal matters that the Governor refers to him.
