Chennai: Prashant Kishor had made a name for himself as an astute political strategist, having been credited with helping political campaigns for Narendra Modi, Mamata Banerjee, Nitish Kumar and Jagan Mohan Reddy.
PK, as he is popularly known, went on to form Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) in 2024. Despite being a full-fledged politician now, PK has not lost his knack of predicting results.
On a day when Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to script history with his one-year-old party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) winning/leading in most number of seats – 107 out of 234 at 6.30 pm – in a state historically dominated by DMK and AIADMK, an old interview of PK has gone viral.
What did PK say in March 2025?
Well, the strategist-turned-politician had actually predicted that Vijay’s party had a good chance of winning the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
Shortly after Vijay announced the launch of TVK, Kishor was asked in an interview about the prospects of the new party and its founder Vijay.
“Vijay’s commitment is to go alone. I don’t see that changing. If he goes alone, he stands a very good chance to win Tamil Nadu,” PK said during an interview with Thanthi TV.
When the interviewer expressed surprise and pointed out that winning the state election would require 118 seats, Kishor doubled down. “Yes, absolutely. Keep this video and play it when the results come out in Tamil Nadu,” he said confidently.

The final results are still not out, but going by the current trends, TVK could finish close to the majority mark. Quite spectacularly, Vijay’s party has pushed the ruling DMK to second spot (winning/leading in 61 at 6.30 pm) and AIADMK to third (winning/leading in 44).
