Facing Farmers’ Protest, Planning Board Dy Chairman Takes Stock Of Agriculture Issues In Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: Deputy chairman of the State Planning Board Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, who faced a protest by farmers over paddy procurement at the RMC office during his visit to the town on Wednesday, took stock of agriculture related issues with the district officials.

Attending a district-level review meeting on drinking water supply, MGNREGS, progress of development work on forest land, paddy procurement activities, health  services and COVID-19 management, he directed the officials to transport the paddy of genuine farmers from the mandis to the rice mills within 24 hours and declared receipt of one lakh extra quintal of paddy from the farmers. He also visited the mandis at Taragaon and Regulated Markets Committee (RMC), Nabarangpur.  

He also told the officials to complete the ongoing drinking water projects in time and Rs-50 lakh project at Chandandhara for eco-tourism.

He advised that immediate action should be taken for tender of the projects of expansion of the road from Circuit House to Vigilance Office and from RTO office to Police Reserve office and Papadahandi bypass. In addition to these, progress of the Turiguntha project and the Jeypore-Nabarangpur railway project were also discussed.

Das Burma also inaugurated a Rs 55-lakh market complex at the District Headquarters Hospital and a Rs 10-lakh Multi Purpose Hall at the Mission Shakti Building.

Das Burma was accompanied by MLAs of Nabarangpur, Dabugaon and Jharigaon, Zilla Parishad president and vice-president and district officers.
