Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Odisha has decided to further strengthen monitoring of the Plus II examinations next year.
The council’s controller of exams Bijay Kumar Sahoo told Odisha Bytes that they are at an advanced stage of finalising a ‘remote access connectivity’ programme, which would help officials to monitor the exams being held in far away places sitting at a centralised location.
“We can monitor the examination centre, the conduct of the examination, the examinees from our office here or from the district headquarters. There would be dedicated passwords which will help us get access to CCTV footages,” he said.
“Suppose there is a centre at a remote place in Malkangiri district. We can monitor the examination from the head office itself,” he explained.
Sahoo said the technology will supplement the efforts of the special squad to further strengthen the monitoring process and check malpractices.
The 2019 CHSE examinations were held under strict CCTV camera surveillance. The council had made it clear that centres without CCTV will not be allowed to hold the exams.
The School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash attributed the four per cent dip in pass percentage (72.33 per cent) to the installation of CCTVs in every centre.
