Nayagarh: A Plus II first-year student has alleged that he was beaten by his Physics lecturer at Nuagaon College in Odisha’s Nayagarh district. The incident has sparked outrage among parents and students, prompting a police probe into the matter.
Speaking to a local news channel, lecturer Hindrant Jyotiprakash admitted to physically punishing the student Asish Pradhan, claiming it was because the boy had failed to complete his homework.
Jyotiprakash later apologised for his actions, acknowledging that his method of discipline was inappropriate.
However, allegations have surfaced that students at the college are routinely punished for arriving late, raising broader concerns about the institution’s disciplinary practices.
Meanwhile, the student’s family has lodged a formal complaint at the Nuagaon police station, demanding accountability and justice. Police have filed a case and an investigation is underway.
