Bhubaneswar: The Plus II students of the colleges in the city on Thursday demanded cancellation of Board examinations in offline mode due to prevalent COVID situation.
Hundreds of students took out a rally at the Master Canteen Square to press their demand. They raised slogans against the state government decision to conduct the Board examinations in offline mode while the classes were conducted online.
Pointing out that their courses had not been completed, they alleged that if they appeared at the examination, their career will be ruined. How can the government expect them to cover the entire course for one year in online teaching for less than two months, they enquired.
They also asked why their schools and colleges were not opened for physical classes while malls and bars were allowed to operate by following the COVID protocols. It seems the government intends to wash its hands off their career by just reducing the syllabus, they added.
Demanding complete cancellation of the Plus II examinations, they said the Council of Higher Secondary Education should announce their results as per the marks obtained in the quarterly examination conducted by their colleges.
