Bhubaneswar: After evincing interest in the Centre’s Prime Minister’s Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) parks, the state government has decided to hold a meet of representatives from the textile sector.
Besides the industry representatives, the meeting will be attended by the officials of state and Central governments on October 25. Following the meeting, the Odisha government will submit its proposal to establish a mega textiles park.
“Considering Odisha’s huge potential for the growth of the textiles industry, the state has listed it as a focus sector,” TNIE quoted an Industries department official as saying. The state plans to set up two textile parks with the infrastructure to support the entire value chain and draw investment, the official added.
On October 6, the Centre had approved 7 PM MITRA parks with a total outlay of Rs 4,445 crore. The mega textile and apparel parks will come up at Greenfield/Brownfield sites in different states over a period of 5 years. The states having ready availability of more than 1,000 acre land and textiles related facilities will be considered.
The Centre has announced to extend Maximum Development Capital Support (DCS) of Rs 500 crore to Greenfield PM MITRA and Rs 200 crore to Brownfield PM MITRA for development of infrastructure. Besides, Rs 300 crore of Competitiveness Incentive Support (CIS) will be provided to each park for early establishment of textiles manufacturing units.
