New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended birthday greetings to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on his 54th birthday, praising his dedicated efforts to boost the state’s development and youth empowerment.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Birthday wishes to Odisha’s hardworking Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi Ji. He has made outstanding efforts to enhance Odisha’s growth trajectory and empower the youth of the state. Praying for his long and healthy life in service of the people.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his wishes, highlighting Majhi’s alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision for governance. Shah posted on X: “In line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision, you are continuously giving momentum to public service and good governance in the state. I pray to Lord Jagannath for your long and successful life.”
Several other prominent leaders joined in the celebrations. Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Dharmendra Pradhan extended “heartfelt birthday wishes,” praying for Majhi’s good health and long life. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered “heartfelt birthday greetings,” while Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati wished him health, happiness, and continued success in serving the people.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in her message, highlighted Majhi’s grassroots background and commitment to public service. “Rooted in a humble background, your relentless work for the marginalised and the poor reflects a vision grounded in empathy, service and integrity,” she said.
“May the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath continue to guide your path of selfless service to the people of Odisha. Wishing you good health and continued success in public life,” she added.
Majhi, a grassroots leader from the Santal tribal community, was born on January 6, 1972, in Raikala village of Keonjhar district. He began his political career as a village sarpanch in 1997 and rose through the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A four-time MLA from Keonjhar, he assumed office as Odisha’s 15th Chief Minister in June 2024 following the BJP’s historic victory in the state assembly elections, ending the Biju Janata Dal’s long rule.
