Karnal: While 2025 may not have been too hot for Neeraj Chopra professionally, he did manage to end the year with a bang, what with Prime Minister Narendra Modi dropping in at his wedding reception on Saturday.
Dressed in elegant traditional attire and flashing his familiar, easy smile, India’s undisputed “Golden Boy,” looked every bit the grounded national hero. What was meant to be a private family affair quickly became an internet moment, with photos from the evening flooding social media timelines and fan pages across the country., as reported by News18.
Neeraj had quietly tied the knot to Himani Mor in January this year. The low key announcement had come as a surprise for fans. Saturday’s event was anything but low key and the buzz in the room peaked when the Prime Minister arrived to personally congratulate the newlyweds.
It wasn’t a token appearance either, with PM Modi spending time with the family, exchanging warm conversations and sharing smiles. His presence added weight to an already star-studded evening that featured top athletes and political leaders.
The Prime Minister had earlier hosted Neeraj and Himani at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, where they spoke about sports, life and the road ahead.
“Met Neeraj Chopra and his wife, Himani Mor… We had a great interaction on various issues, including sports of course!” Modi later shared on X.
After his January wedding, Neeraj, the first Indian to win Olympic gold in athletics, posted a simple message on Instagram that reflected his character
“Starting a new chapter of life with my family. Grateful for every blessing that brought us to this moment together,” he had posted.
Himani (25) is a tennis player from Sonipat. A Miranda House graduate, she holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management from Franklin Pierce University in the US. She represented India at the 2017 World University Games in Taipei and also won gold at the 2016 World Junior Tennis Championship.
