PM Modi Receives Rakhi From Pakistani-Origin Sister

New Delhi: Like every year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a special rakhi from his sister of Pakistani origin Qamar Mohsin Shaikh ahead of Raksha Bandhan.

Qamar, who moved to India from Pakistan after her marriage, wrote a letter to Modi praying for his good health and long life. She also wished him for the 2024 general elections, reported ANI.

“There is no doubt that he will be the PM again (in 2024). He deserves this because he has those capabilities and I wish him to be PM of India every time,” she said.

She hopes to meet her in person this time.

“I hope he (PM Modi) will call me (to) Delhi this time. I have made all preparations. I made this rakhi myself using a reshmi ribbon with embroidery design,” ANI quoted Qamar as saying.

The Pakistan-origin woman said her first Raksha Bandhan with Modi was about 25 years ago, when he was an RSS worker.

She has been sending rakhi and a card to Modi every year, even if they have not met.

Raksha Bandhan, observed on the last day of Hindu lunar calendar month of Shravana, will be celebrated on August 11 this year.
