Kathmandu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the trade and friendly relations between India and Nepal at a rally in Nepal’s Janakpur. He is on a two-day state visit to Nepal, starting today.
Modi was received by Nepal Prime minister KP Sharma Oli and directly visited the popular 20th century Janaki temple, upon his arrival. Both the Prime Ministers spend close to 45 minutes at the temple and participated in the ‘Shodasopachara’ puja, local Nepalese media reported.
Addressing a rally at Janakpur, he spoke about the bilateral trade between the two countries.
“In the field of power and energy production, Nepal is rapidly developing itself. Presently, India is providing approximately 450 watts of electricity to Nepal. We have laid a transmission line for the same,” said PM Modi.
The two Prime Ministers also inaugurated the Nepal-India Friendship Bus Service (Ramayan Circuit Bus Service) from Janakpur to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the friendly relations the two countries share.
“History stands as a testimony to whenever the two nations have faced any difficulties, we have helped each other,” which he said after quoting a verse from Ramayana.
PM Modi later arrived at Kathmandu, where he will officially meet the President and Vice President for bilateral talks.
