Bhubaneswar: With the nine-day Chaitra Navratri, one of the most auspicious Hindu festivals dedicated to Goddess Durga with prayers, fasting and rituals, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday shared a video of a spiritual song performed by Odia playback singer and actress Dipti Rekha Padhi on his official X account.
The Prime Minister added a poignant message to the post, highlighting the transformative power of devotion: “There is immense power in devotion to the Goddess. Worshipping the Devi fills the minds of devotees with positive energy.”
The share came as a pleasant and unexpected surprise for Diptirekha. Overwhelmed by the recognition from the Prime Minister, Padhi expressed her profound gratitude and astonishment. “The day began with the most beautiful surprise… something I never expected. During this sacred time of Navaratri, it truly feels like the Mother of the Universe has blessed her child in the most magical way. It was an incredibly emotional moment when I opened my eyes and saw that Sir Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi himself had shared my song with a heart touching message,” she wrote on Facebook with screenshots from the PM’s handle.
She further noted that this high-profile endorsement has left her deeply inspired. “… it truly means the world to me, it’s a dream I never dared to dream. Forever grateful, forever blessed… this moment will stay in my soul for a lifetime,” she added.
Diptirekha has lent her voice to popular films including 4 Idiots, Tu Mo Love Story, and Kabula Barabula. She also contributed significantly to social causes by singing the theme song for the voter awareness campaign “My Vote My Country: My Vote Not for Sale”, organized by Odisha Election Watch. Her talent has been widely recognised through prestigious awards, including the Best Female Playback Singer honour at the 31st Odisha State Film Awards and the ninth Tarang Music Award in 2017. She was also the lead actress in tele-serial ‘Raja Kanya’.
