Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived in Chennai to inaugurate India’s mega defence exhibition at Thiruvidanthai, was shown black flags by the members of the pro-Tamil outfits. The protest was a mark of raising voice against Modi for not forming Cauvery Management Board.
The protests near the vicinity of the airport was organised by the Tamizhar Vazhvuirimai Kootamaippu (TVK) and Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi.
With traffic coming to a still, the police detained protestors. Protesting Modi’s visit, black flags were hoisted atop the residences of DMK chief M Karunanidhi and other leaders.DMK workers also released black balloons on the occasion.
The Cauvery protests has been gaining momentum of late, with the protestors also demanding ban of IPL team Chennai Super Kings’ home matches.
