New Delhi: Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister of India for a record-equalling third successive term at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Sunday.
Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister after India got Independence in 1947, is the only other person to have served three terms on the trot.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the PM and other ministers the oath of office in a glittering ceremony attended by several foreign heads of state and a galaxy of eminent personalities from all fields.

Those who followed Modi in taking oath according to seniority were Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar.
Modi picked a 72-member Union Cabinet of ministers, including 11 from NDA allies.
In the Modi 3.0 cabinet, there will be 30 Cabinet ministers, 5 Ministers of State with Independent charge and 36 Ministers of State.
Among foreign leaders present were Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth, Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay and Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
