New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, turned a humorous Instagram post by social media influencer Yuvraj Dua into a public message, cautioning people against the consumption of excessive sugar.
Dua, in his video message, spoke about the unwavering support that his father and others of his age have for the PM.
He goes on to say how his father would not blink an eyelid before pulling out Modi if given a choice to save one person from a fire in which one of his own family members is also trapped.
Dua ends with a request that the PM address the issue of sugar intake in one of his Mann Ki Baats, so his father – a diabetic – may quit having jalebis.
Modi did not wait for his Mann Ki Baat, but took to Instagram soon to share Dua’s reel along with a message about the need to reduce sugar intake and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Modi posted: “On Yuvraj’s request, I will urge his father (and everyone else out there) to reduce sugar intake…be healthy, be happy!”
The Prime Minister also shared another post wherein he spoke about eating well and eating healthy. In the post, he spoke about how excessive sugar affects health. He also urged people to make yoga a part of their daily lives.
“Excessive sugar invites a range of diseases. Then ofcourse there is the looming threat of obesity,” Modi wrote.
“Also, do make yoga a part of your lives. It is a great way to remain fit and active,” he added.
Medical experts say that excessive sugar consumption, especially added sugar from processed foods and drinks, can significantly affect your health and increase the risks of several diseases.
Excessive sugar can affect the liver, cause weight gain and obesity, increase the risk of Type 2:diabetes, heart disease and dental decay.
It can also cause impaired brain function and gut and inflammation problems.
