New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed an ‘earnest wish’ for the people of Ukraine through his message to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Thanking the Ukrainian President for his ‘warm greetings’ on the occasion of India’s Independence Day, Modi wished Ukraine a future marked by ‘peace, progress and prosperity’.
“Thank you, President Zelenskyy, for your warm greetings. I deeply value the joint commitment to forging even closer ties between India and Ukraine. We earnestly wish our friends in Ukraine a future marked by peace, progress and prosperity,” Modi wrote on X.
Zelensky had sent a message on Friday, when India celebrated its 79th Independence Day.
“Congratulations to the people of India, President @rashtrapatibhvn, and Prime Minister @narendramodi on Independence Day! This week, we had a good, candid conversation with Prime Minister @narendramodi when I had an opportunity to personally convey my best wishes on this occasion,” Zelensky wrote on X.
The Ukrainian leader added that India and Ukraine share the experience of standing up for freedom and dignity, as well as the pursuit of peace and development. He also hoped that New Delhi would contribute to efforts to end Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Modi replied to all world leaders who wished him and the country, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Thank you PM Netanyahu for your warm wishes. May India-Israel friendship continue to flourish…may both countries further strengthen and deepen this relationship bringing peace, development as well as security to our people,” Modi replied to Netanyahu, who had congratulated his ‘dear friend’ and the people of India on the occasion of Independence Day.
