New Delhi: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Israel from February 25, New Delhi is reportedly preparing to strengthen its strategic and defence partnership with Tel Aviv significantly. Although no formal defence contracts are expected to be signed during the trip, the two sides are likely to sign an MoU on security cooperation, reported News 18.
According to the report, India is particularly interested in jointly developing advanced anti-ballistic missile systems under Mission Sudershan. The mission is aimed at shielding Indian territory from long-range missile threats.
Besides, Israel has reportedly agreed to provide cutting-edge technologies, including advanced laser-based defence systems and other high-precision stand-off weapons.
Israeli defence technology, particularly proven missile defence solutions are widely acknowledged for its operational success in neutralising aerial threats. Experts say such capabilities could augment India’s layered defence architecture.
Beyond defence, the visit is expected to deepen cooperation in science and technology, agriculture, water management, and emerging fields like quantum computing. With strong political alignment and shared positions on counterterrorism, both nations are poised to further consolidate their multifaceted partnership.
