PM Should Visit Border, Says Swamy After Reports Of Chinese Incursions In Arunachal Pradesh Surface

New Delhi: Amidst reports of incursion by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Arunachal Pradesh, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not responding to such claims and demanded him to visit the border.

“Modi is scared to Reply since he has been compromised by Chinese hospitality from 2005 to 2019 in his numerous visits to China. So he like a goat says “koi aaya nahin…” and declines visits to Ladakh and Arunachal. We citizens demand he visit the Border,” the BJP leader wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday declined such allegations. The minister had said the mere painting of marks in undemarcated locations didn’t mean the areas had been encroached upon. According to the minister—who belongs to Arunachal Pradesh—overlapping of patrolling by Indian and Chinese forces does take place in the undemarcated areas along the Sino-Indian border.

According to reports, the PLA allegedly entered inside Indian territory in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh last week. The Chinese troops were allegedly camping in the Kapapu area of the district for some time.

Pictures of bonfires, painting of rocks and Chinese food materials at the alleged site of incursion surfaced on the social media, reports claimed.

The PLA had allegedly entered at least 60 kilometres inside Indian territory in Arunachal, NewsFy reported. The pictures shared on social media reportedly show markings with the year – a propaganda tactic used by the Chinese military during their incursions into Indian territory to assert its claim over Arunachal.

These reports came at a time when the Indian army had been engaged in a stand-off with the PLA in Ladakh since April 2020.

India shares a 3,400 km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, spreading from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh. While China claims that Arunachal Pradesh has “always been” its territory, India has rubbished such claims.
