Police Arrest 2 Youths Within 24 Hours Of Looting Jawan In Odish’s Khurda

Khurda: Police have arrested two persons within 24 hours of allegedly looting a jawan in Odisha’s Khurda district.

As per reports, Jawan Pabitra Pradhan, serving in Indian Army, boarded a bus in Berhampur to catch a train from Jatni railway station in the district to go to Puri on Saturday evening. He got down from the bus near Barunei Chhak on the outskirts of Khurda to have dinner in a roadside hotel at around 10 pm.

While he was proceeding towards the hotel, two youths came on a motorcycle and intercepted him. The bikers pointed a knife at Pabitra and snatched his money purse containing Rs 7,000 and ATM card, a silver bracelet and a gold necklace.

Following the incident, the jawan filed a complaint at the police outpost in Khurda industrial estate. During investigation into the complaint, the police checked the footage from a CCTV camera near the incident spot and identified the two youths.

The police arrested the two accused, identified as Seikh Suraj and Firoze Khan of Mukunda Prasad in Puri district on Sunday. The police also recovered Rs 3,500, money purse and silver bracelet from the possession of the two youths, said outpost in-charge Basudev Jaysingh.
