Police Arrest 4 Members Of Dacoit Gang, Foil Plan To Loot Jewellery Shop In Odisha’s Puri
Puri: Police have foiled a loot attempt as they arrested 4 members of a dacoit gang in Odisha’s Puri town in the wee hours of Monday.
On a tip-off about the gang, a team from Kmbharapada police station went to Ashram Chhak and surrounded an auto-rickshaw parked there at around 3 am. On checking the vehicle, the police found 5 persons inside it with lethal weapons.
The police managed to nab 4 persons from the auto-rickshaw after a scuffle while one member of the gang managed to escape. The four persons who have been arrested are Himansu Das alias Gudu, Prasant Bisoi alias Hari, Achyutanand Nanda and Akshay Kumar Pradhan. They belong to different localities in the town.
The police also seized a sword, an iron rod, two live crude bombs and a sharp weapon from their possession. They registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
During questioning, the arrested persons revealed to the police that they were planning to loot a jewellery shop at market square in the town. The police forwarded them to court on Monday.
