He had allegedly raped a Class IV student on the premises of Jogeswar School under Gop police limits in Puri district and then attempted to kill her.
The girl had gone to a nearby market place. When she didn’t return home for long, her parents started looking for her. The child was later found on the school premises in a critical condition.
She was rushed to Charichhak Community Health Centre and later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar after her condition deteriorated.
Following the incident, the girl’s family members had lodged a police complaint alleging that an unidentified person took her to the school premises and raped her.
Meanwhile, Childline officials lodged a complaint at Salepur police station in Cuttack district this morning after they came to know that a minor girl was allegedly rape by her relative in Salepur. The complaint was lodged after the rape survivor’s family refused to get involved in a police case.

However, police received the complaint and have launched an investigation into the incident. Efforts are on to nab the accused who went absconding soon after committing the crime.
