Sundargarh: Police have arrested two looters having criminal history and seized a gun and other weapons from them in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Monday.
According to police sources, the arrests were made following loot from a daily wager. SK Akbar of Murshidabad in West Bengal was working as daily labourer at Aranya Nagar in Sundargarh town. On the day, the two looters came on a motorcycle and forcibly took away three mobile phones and Rs 5,000 in cash from him by threatening him with a gun.
After Akbar lodged a complaint about the loot at Town police station, a team, led by IIC Aditya Mahakud conducted raids on several suspicious places. During the raids, the team found the two accused and arrested them.
The arrested persons are MD Ikku and MD Mobin of Dengibhadi under Sundargarh Town police station. The police seized a country-made gun, a knife, a motorcycles and Rs 4,5000 in cash from their possession.
Several criminal cases of loot, theft, extortion and illegal possession of arms are pending against Mobin. The cases have been filed at police stations in the Town, Talsara and Rajgangur, the sources said.
