Bhadrak: Police have arrested 4 persons, who had committed burglaries after identifying the houses as beggars, in Odisha’s Bhadrak town.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday, Bhadrak SDPO Saurabh Ota said the gang of 4 burglars was arrested following investigation into two burglary complaints from Chandigaon on December 14.
During investigation by a special police team suspected the movement of a group of beggars in the area. “The police team got the breakthrough from the dog squad. Following the lead provided by the squad, the police went to the area where the beggars were staying and apprehended all the four persons,” said the SDPO.
The four persons were identified as Raju Das, Aju Das, Rama, and Balia Das of the Pagada area in the town. They have admitted to the police during questioning that they used to conduct recce of the houses as beggars in different areas during the day. Afte targeting a particular house, they looted the valuables from the house at night.
Police have seized Rs 12,000 in cash, silver and gold ornaments, sharp weapons and three bikes from the possession of the arrested persons. Further investigation is on to ascertain involvement of other persons in the burglaries.
