Kendrapara: Police have found the link of the gangster Tito in the firing of a local businessman in Gulnagar area of Kendrapara town on the night of July 13.
Talking to mediapersons on Monday, Kendrapara SP Niti Sekhar said that the police have arrested four accused.
He said that the police, during the interrogation of the four arrested accused, have come to know about complicity of the gangster Tito in the case.
He said G Babu, one of the closest associates of Tito and Babu Sahu, another associate of Chito (Tito’s brother) had planned to eliminate the businessman and president Tinimuhani Bazaar Committee,Bibekanand Maharana (45), suspecting him as a police informer.
“The two associates had struck a deal of Rs 5 lakh with the contract killers (supari) and paid a advance of Rs 1 lakh,” he added.
The SP further said that efforts were on to nab eight other absconding accused.
Maharana had sustained critical injuries after he was shot at by two unidentified miscreants near Dandamunda in Gulnagar while he was returning home in the night.
In protest against the incident, the trading community had given Kendrapara bandh call the following day, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
