Mumbai: The Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath has filed a complaint against the ‘GOAT’ actor-tuned-politician, Vijay, accusing him of ‘insulting Muslims’ at an Iftar event organised by him.
The complaint lodged at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office alleged that the Iftar hosted by the actor saw drunkards and rowdies, which insulted Muslims. “Muslims were insulted at the Iftar programme organised by Vijay. We believe the participation of drunkards and rowdies who had nothing to do with fasting or Iftar has insulted Muslims,” News18 reported, quoting Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath treasurer Syed Kous.
Kous also called out the actor for organising the Iftar in a ‘hurtful manner’, and for not ‘expressing regret’ at how his ‘foreign guards’ disrespected people, and ‘treated them like cows.’
“Legal action should be taken against Vijay to ensure this does not happen again. We did not file a complaint for publicity,” he added.
Vijay organised the Iftar at the Royapettah YMCA grounds in Chennai on Friday.
At the event, he was seen wearing a skull cap and participating in the prayers before breaking fast. Several pictures and videos of the event went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor will be next seen in H Vinoth’s ‘Jana Nayagan.’ The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol in key roles.
Reports suggest that it will be the actor’s last film before he contests the 2026 elections under the banner of his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
