Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Monday police control rooms will be set up near the highways to curb road accidents.
Inaugurating the 29thNational Road Safety Week at traffic police station here, the DGP said, “Real-time traffic related information and dos and don’ts of road safety should be disseminated to the public, especially youths, to minimise road mishaps in the state.”
Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner YB Khurania said that students and motorists should adopt safety measures such as wearing helmets and seat belts while driving to save lives.
On the occasion, a photo exhibition showcasing the importance of adhering to traffic rules along with consequences of violations was unveiled by the dignitaries.
Earlier in the morning, a walkathon was taken out by the commerce and transport department from KIIT Campus to driving test ground, Chandrasekharpur with the participation of students.
