Bhubaneswar: Twin cities commissionerate police on Sunday foiled a robbery bid in the state capital with the arrest of five members of a gang.
The arrested were identified as Bighneswar Nayak (26), Sujit Kumar Nayak (29), Arun Kumar Barik (27), Prabhas Ranjan Behera (26) and Ajay Kumar Nayak (30).
A pistol, one billhook, an iron rod and a car were seized from their possession.
The gang members were nabbed during a raid by a team of Mancheswar police on an isolated under-construction building near Hi-Tech Medical College while they were plotting a robbery.
According to police sources, Bighneswar and Ajay were seasoned criminals with several cases pending against them at Narsinghpur police station in Cuttack district.
