Lake Cargelligo (New South Wales): New South Wales police have launched a massive manhunt for 37-year-old man identified as Julian Ingram in connection with the fatal shootings of three people in the rural town of Lake Cargelligo.
The incident unfolded around 4.30 PM local time Thursday on Walker Street, leaving residents of the close-knit community of about 1,100 in shock.
Emergency services responded to reports of gunfire at a residential property, discovering two women and a man dead at the scene. Identified victims include 25-year-old pregnant Sophie Quinn, her 32-year-old friend John Harris, and her 50-year-old aunt Nerida Quinn. A 19-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition. He is now stated to be in stable condition. Authorities believe the attack stems from domestic violence, with Ingram — out on bail for prior related charges and subject to a December restraining order protecting Sophie Quinn — identified as the prime suspect. He also known as Julian Pierpoint.
Over 100 police officers and army personnel have fanned out on the isolated town, 611 km west of Sydney, issuing geo-targeted alerts for residents to shelter in place. Streets emptied Friday, shops shuttered, and curtains drawn as the search intensified. Police noted Ingram’s compliance with bail conditions prior. However, it is being probed how he acquired a firearm without a license. Assistant commissioner Andrew Holland, who addressed reporters on-site, emphasized on public safety.
