Bhubaneswar: Police needs to interrogate Archana Nag in the sensational honeytrap case and ascertain her exact source of income to get to the bottom of the racket, former Odisha Director General of Police Sanjeev Marik said on Wednesday.
“Since the case is related to blackmailing, police needs to interrogate Archana by taking her remand in order to ascertain details of the modus operandi adopted by her in running the racket. Detailed information can be obtained only through interrogation,” he said.
While the police have not sought her remand for interrogation so far, thorough questioning is essential in order gather necessary information and evidence to take the case to its logical conclusion, said the ex-DGP.
“Interrogation will enable the police to get necessary evidence which in turn will ensure conviction in the case,” he said.
This apart, the police needs to establish whether the woman has some legal source of income as she is alleged to have amassed assets worth crores of rupees within a short span of time, Marik said.
If she has no legal source of income, it will be necessary to ascertain the manner in which she earned so much money, he said, adding that the police must have gathered a lot of information from the pen drive, laptop and mobile phones seized from Archana’s house.
