Police Recover 4 Decomposed Bodies From Closed House In Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: Police recovered 4 decomposed bodies from a locked house in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Sunday evening.

As per reports, the villagers of Jamdol under Bheden block of the district detected a stinking smell coming from inside the house of Seshadev Meher near upper primary school. The front door of the house was closed from inside. Suspecting foul play, the villagers informed the police.

A team from Bheden police station led by IIC Sangita Mohapatra went to the village. After preliminary investigation from outside the house and its surroundings, they decided to break open the entrance door of the house for which the police informed the district magistrate.

Later, the police opened the doors in presence of the magistrate. On going inside, they found 4 dead bodies lying on the ground. They were identified as Seshadev (55), his wife Khireswari Meher (48) and their son Arabinda Meher (28) and daughter Shivani Meher (20). They were suspected to have died 2-3 days back, police sources said.

Bargarh district SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas told the media that scientific team and dog squad will go to the house on Monday to collect evidence. The cause of death of the family members would be known after getting post-mortem report, he added.

The villagers said the Meher family, who were weavers by profession, was well-behaved and peace-loving. They had no enmity with anybody in the village, they added.
