Police Seize 1,350 Strips Of Fake Telma-40 Medicines In Cuttack
Cuttack: Police on Monday seized 1,350 strips of fake Telma-40 medicines costing about Rs 3 lakh from a transport agency on Mahatab Road in Odisha’s Cuttack.
Purighat police seized the fake Telma-40 strips from Tridev Express Cargo on Mahatab Road. The duplicate medicines were procured from VR Agencies from Manikghosh Bazar in Kolkata, whose proprietor Rahul Syal was arrested earlier following the seizure of fake Telma-40 and Telma-AM tablets during raids in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recently.
The Assistant Drug Controller, Cuttack Circle I, accompanied the police during Monday’s raid to verify the drugs.
Telma-40 and Telma-AM, manufactured by Glenmark, are used to treat high blood pressure. The company has issued an advisory for people after the fake drugs were seized.
The Twin City Police Commissionerate arrested two persons following the earlier raids. Those arrested are Sanjay Jalal, owner of Puja Enterprises in Jaunliapati, registered in the name of his wife Chanchala, and Syal.
