Police Seize 22 Stolen Bikes, Arrest 3 Persons Including ‘Web Channel Owner’ In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: Police have recovered 22 stolen two-wheelers and arrested three persons, including one claiming himself to be a web channel owner, in this connection in Odisha’s Balasore district.
Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, Balasore SP Sagarika Nath said following reliable information, a team from Oupada police station conducted raid on a house in Badapokhari village under its jurisdiction. During the raid, the police found 13 motorcycles from the house.
The house-owner, who claimed himself to be owner of a web channel, could not produce any document of the bikes. On further checking, the police found that the bikes had fake registration number. They seized the vehicles and detained the house-owner in the police station on suspicion.
During question, the man admitted that the seized motorcycles were stolen and two other persons were involved in the bike-lifting racket. On the basis of his information, the police seized 9 more vehicles during a raid on a house in Sahadevkhunta under Balasore Town police station and arrested the two persons.
Total 22 two-wheelers including 16 Scooty and 6 motorcycles were recovered from the three persons. The police have also seized Rs 56,000 from their possession.
The SP said the three persons had stolen the bikes from hospitals, market places and cinema halls in Cuttack, Baripada, Keonjhar and Balasore. The man, who claimed himself to be a journalist, has 11 land fraud and 3 other cases pending against him different police stations. His accomplices were also involved in several criminal cases, the SP added.
