Berhampur: Police have seized around 50 kg of ganja and arrested one person for alleged smuggling of the contraband in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Following credible information that B Duryodhan of Chandapur village under Golanthara police limits had stocked the ganja in his house, a police team conducted a raid on Wednesday. During the raid, the police found the ganja weighing 48.55 kg concealed in a plastic bag in Duryodhan’s house, said Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M.
Duryodhan was arrested and forwarded to the court. During interrogation, he revealed that he was involved in ganja smuggling for the last 6 months.
The investigation is on to ascertain involvement of other persons and the source of procurement. A case under NDPS Act has been registered in Golanthara police station.
