Police Station Records To Be Computerised From January

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to expedite and fine-tune the functioning of
police, maintenance of records at police stations across Odisha will
be done online from January next year, DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma
informed on Friday.

Reviewing the Criminal Tracking and Networking System (CCTNS) project,
Sharma said, “All the police records and station diaries will be
maintained online to ensure transparency. The police officers will use
smartphones, laptops and tablets for effective investigation of
cases.”

The project is being implemented under the national e-governance
initiative at a cost of Rs 61 crore, sources said.
