Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police is set to move the court to seek another remand of high-profile con woman Hansita Abhilipsa and her aide Anil Mohanty, who are in jail for allegedly duping wealthy businessmen and mine operators in Odisha.

Sources said the police will seek a five-day remand of Hansita and Anil and an application for the purpose will be filed in the JMFC court in Bhubaneswar.

In course of investigation into the alleged criminal activities of the fraudster, the Special Crime Unit of the police has found her involvement in sex racket and trafficking of women. The two were earlier taken on remand by the police and during interrogation, crucial information had been gathered.

The investigating team is seeking to gather more information regarding their alleged involvement in human trafficking. Therefore, they will move to court to seek their remand again, informed Twin City Police Commissioner S Deba Datta Singh.

Notably, Hansita and her accomplice Anil were taken into custody by Bhubaneswar police on December 31 for allegedly siphoning off money. They posed as the daughter and son-in-law of PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to carry out their fraudulent activities and dupe rich people.

The two have now been accused of trafficking girls and young women to influential persons, businessmen, politicians and bureaucrats. They were also accused of making obscene pictures of women viral on social media and showing obscene material through electronic gadgets.

Photos and videos of several girls including some Russians were found from the laptop and phones of Hansita during investigation, police said.

Police also came across Hansita’s WhatsApp chats with several girls and their audio recordings. She used to traffic girls from several Indian cities and Russia for influential persons, businessmen, and politicians to facilitate business agreements or get political leverage.

Her aim was to satisfy her potential targets, to grab a deal or get a tender passed in her favour, police sources said.

Earlier on January 17, the Infocity Police had filed a case against Hansita for allegedly furnishing false information in her passport. After filing the case, the police intimated about it to the Bhubaneswar JMFC-2 court.

It may be noted that Hansita and Anil Kumar Mohanty were arrested on December 30, 2024, on charges of duping several people by posing as the daughter and son-in-law of P K Mishra, the principal secretary to Prime Minister. Police also seized several luxury cars and other belongings from the duo, who have accumulated assets worth hundreds of crores through means of frauds.
