Police Van Stolen From Odisha’s Rayagada Recovered From Andhra Pradesh

Rayagada: A patrolling van, which was reportedly stolen from a police station in Odisha’s Rayagada on Saturday, was recovered and a man arrested from Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

According to sources, the arrested man, identified as Rudra Siba of Etida village in Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, had come to Majhi Ghariani temple in Raygada on Saturday. While performing puja in the temple, his purse containing Rs 10,000 was allegedly stolen in the heavy rush.

Rudra went to Raygada police station to file a complaint about his stolen purse but no police official reportedly listened to him nor registered a case. Frustrated by the behaviour of the personnel, he came out of the police station.

Meanwhile, the patrolling van reached the police station and was parked in front of it. While the police personnel were busy inside, Rudra drove the van out and fled.

On coming to know that the patrolling van was missing, the police launched a search operation. Following investigation, they located it at Parvatipuram in Andhra. A team from Rayagada police station with the help of Parvatipuram police recovered the vehicle and also arrested Rudra from the spot.

Odisha police brought Rudra to Rayagada on Sunday. They have registered a case in this regard and launched further investigation.
