Pollution Testing Vehicle Fined Rs 17800 In Odisha; Know Why
Angul: A mobile van conducting pollution test of vehicles was slapped with a fine of Rs 17800 here on Tuesday.
The Regional Transport Office (RTO), Angul, imposed the penalty following allegation that it was issuing Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates to vehicle owners without testing the emission level.
The van stationed near the RTO was also seized.
The penalty for driving without PUC under the amended MV Act is Rs 10,000. While the deadline for getting the vehicle checked for pollution level was earlier extended till September, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday gave the motorists three-moth breather for readying all related documents.
