Portion Of Paradip-Haridaspur Railway Line Collapses In Odisha’s Kendrapara
Kendrapara: Panic gripped Goseinbandha village under Marshaghai block in Odisha’s Kendrapara district after a portion of the under-construction railway line of new Paradip-Haridaspur rail project caved in near the canal bridge on Wednesday night.
According to sources, a portion of the railway line suddenly caved in around 10 pm. As a result, three houses situated at a distance of 50 feet from the construction site were damaged.
Talking to mediapersons on Thursday, the affected family members of the two houses said that they had handed over the land to the railways for the construction of the railway line. “How can we stay in our houses which are completely damaged? There are cracks on the walls and roof of our house. Neither the district administration nor the Railway authorities have arrived here,” they added.
The railway authorities were not available for comment on this matter till filing of this report.
Notably, the construction of the 70 km Paradip-Haridaspur railway line which had begun in 1998, is yet to be completed.
