Bhubaneswar: Ace para shuttler Pramod Bhagat of Odisha bagged gold medal at the badminton men’s singles event at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday.
He clinched the medal beating Indonesia’s Ukun Rukaendi in the final of para badminton men’s singles event.
He had reached final of the singles event, battling hard to defeat his Vietnam rival Tuein-Trins Ahan 21-17, 18-21, 21-9 in semi-final.
Earlier on Friday, Pramod with his partner Manoj Sarkar had to be satisfied with a bronze in the para-badminton doubles event. The Indians lost the final to an Indonesian pair 13-21, 19-25.
Pramod belongs to Bargarh district of Odisha.
