New Delhi: BJP Members of Parliament (MPs) Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who were admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital after sustaining injuries sustained during an altercation outside Parliament, have been hit on the head, informed doctors.
RML Medical Superintendent Ajay Shukla said that both MPs had sustained head injuries and there are blood pressure-related issues too, and their health condition is being monitored closely.
“Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput had head injuries. Both have been given medication. Rajput ji’s blood pressure is still high. We are doing our best possible. Sarangi ji is an elderly person, and when there is pushing and shoving, the BP could shoot up. This could lead to a heart arrest or stroke. Sarangi ji had been a cardiac patient. We are evaluating the situation,” said Dr Shukla.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who visited the MPs at the hospital, said that both Sarangi and Rajput would be in hospital for two days.
“Pratap Sarangi has two stitches on his head, and Mukesh Rajput also has a head injury. Both are stable, but doctors have advised that they remain under observation for the next couple of days,” Rajnath said earlier.
BJP MP also met Sarangi at the hospital.

The alleged physical scuffle outside Parliament snowballed into a major row with both BJP and Congress filing police complaints accusing each other of assault and misconduct.
Counter complaint by Congress
A BJP delegation, led by Anurag Thakur, lodged a complaint with Delhi Police against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, alleging assault and incitement.
“We have filed a complaint under Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351 of the BNS. Section 109 is attempt to murder, Section 117 is voluntary causing grievous hurt,” Thakur said outside Parliament Street Police Station.
BJP has accused Rahul of pushing 70-year-old Sarangi during a protest by NDA MPs outside Parliament’s Makar Dwar, and claimed that Rajput sustained injuries during the incident.
A Congress team, including women parliamentarians, filed a counter-complaint at Parliament Street police station.
Alleging a conspiracy behind the events, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, “The way a Dalit leader was abused the day before yesterday and today he was pushed — this is all a conspiracy.”
