Sonepur: The family of a pregnant woman were forced to carry her on a cot for about 2 km because an ambulance could not reach their interior village in Sonepur district due to lack of proper roads.
According to sources, the woman, Lalita Bhoi, a resident of Masinapali village in Durjuntaila panchayat area, complained of labour pain on Saturday. Her family called the ambulance service, but the ambulance could not reach the village due to poor road connectivity.
With no other option, her family members with the help of an Asha Didi and fellow villagers carted her on a cot for 2 km to reach the ambulance.
This is not a unique case as ambulances often fail to reach patients on time in the interior parts of Odisha.
