Preparedness For Cyclone ‘Titli’ In Odisha’s Districts

Kendrapara/Jagatsingpur/Puri: Panic grips the coastal areas of Odisha as the very severe cyclonic storm Titli is all set to cross the Odisha coast in the early morning on Thursday.

The people of Kendrapara are in fear, as the met department issues red alert for the district. The district administration has been taken several measures for the protection of the people. Marine Fishery Department has been alerting local people at Kharinasi village in Mahakalapada block with the help of loud speakers.

With the help of bugles they informed the fishermen not to venture into the sea. The people of the low lying areas in the district were also displaced to the cyclone shelter homes. Dry foods were also arranged for the cyclone.

Notably, heavy rainfall is continuing in coastal areas of Kendrapara district.

Super cyclone in 1999 had destroyed Balikuda-Erasama of Jagatsinghpur district. The super cyclone affected people there still in shock by losing their family members and other belongings.

The residents of Jagatsinghpur district are in panic for the expected cyclone Titli. They have also started preparing themselves to fight with the cyclone with much courage. They have already collected their basic requirements. The low lying area people have also been prepared to shift to the safe place during cyclone.

The district administration has also arranged ODRAF team and NDRF team to tackle the situation.

Rain is also continuing in Puri since morning. Fishermen were advised in the district not to venture into the sea in the district.

additional district fishery officer (marine) Debendra Behera said, “We have instructed the fishermen not to venture into the sea. All the boats are now in outside of the sea. We have been alerting them since last two days. We are also announcing about the weather update through mikes for the fishermen. All the fishermen are in safe zone now.”
