Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday expressed condolence over the loss of lives in the tragic bus accident in Odisha’s Ganjam district. She prayed for speedy recovery of those injured in the deadly mishap.
“Deeply saddened to hear about the loss of lives in a road accident in Ganjam, Odisha. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of the injured,” the President tweeted.
At least 12 people were killed and several others critically injured when a private bus carrying a marriage party collided head-on with a state-run Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus near Digapahandi on Berhampur-Taptapani road in wee hours today.
The occupants of the private bus were returning from a wedding party in Berhampur.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many others have expressed grief over death of people in the bus accident.
