Press Council Prods Odisha Govt On Accreditation Committee For Journalists

New Delhi: The Press Council of India (PCI) has directed the Odisha government to constitute a Journalists’ Accreditation Committee within two months.

PCI Chairperson Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai issued the directive following a complaint by a council member, Prasanna Mohanty, according to reports.

The matter has raised questions about why the state-level accreditation committee has not been constituted for the past 19 years.

The committee plays an important role in the accreditation of journalists and facilitating their access to official information and government events.
