Prisoners In UP To Recite Hanuman Chalisa, Sundarkand For Personality Development
New Delhi: All prisoners in Uttar Pradesh jails will soon recite the Hanuman Chalisa, and Sundarkand and learn personality development techniques as part of their curriculum inside the prison.
According to an Aaj Tak report, UP’s Prison Minister Dharmveer Prajapati announced and spearheaded the initiative and for this purpose, books and religious scriptures will be made available to all those who wish to read such texts.
Under this initiative, the inmates will be taught and asked to read Hanuman Chalisa, and Sundarkand as well as other developmental skills like literature and writing which will help shape them into better citizens.
The minister said that the recital of Hanuman Chalisa is an effective way to impart personality development lessons and mantras to the people without any agenda or religious bias. He further said that the initiative received an overwhelming response from the inmates across the state. Hanuman Chalisa copies were recently distributed in Mathura and Agra prisons as well.
However, it is not a mandatory practice but since the recital of such religious texts has had a positive outcome during such experiments in the past, the minister said that such scriptures, especially Hanuman Chalisa will be given to whoever wishes to read them.
During his latest interaction with the inmates at Azamgarh jail, Minister Prajapati highlighted that this initiative focuses solely on enhancing prisoners’ personalities and preparing them for a better life outside prison. Steps are also being taken to make religious books and scriptures available in prison libraries across the state for the spiritual awakening of all the inmates. The UP Jail Minister also urged all the inmates to take advantage of this initiative as it will promote their personal growth within the prison system.
