Prithvi Shaw Attack Case: Accused Woman, 3 Others Sent To 14-Day Judicial Custody

Mumbai: Social media influencer Sapna Gill and three others accused of attacking Team India cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s car were on Monday sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Sapna Gill, along with 7 others, were booked by Oshiwara Police last week based on a complaint filed by Shaw’s friend Ashish Surendra Yadav.

The complainant stated that the group of people attacked his car with baseball bats and followed the car to threaten them of false cases if Rs 50,000 was not given to them.

Sapna and three of her acquaintances were arrested and had been in police custody till date.

Sapna denied the allegations in a Magistrate court and counter-charged that a drunk Shaw tried to physically assault her and her friends with a stick.

The fracas was over selfies when Shaw had gone to a five-star hotel for dinner.

The opening batter, who was recalled to the Team India squad for last month’s T20I series against New Zealand, obliged two people with selfies, but refused when asked for selfies with the other accused.

When they insisted, Shaw’s friend called the manager and complained about them, following which the accused were asked to leave the hotel.

This allegedly angered them and they attacked Shaw and his friend when they came out of the hotel post dinner.
