Puri: A fire erupted in a private bus parked at a bus stand in Odisha’s Puri town late on Sunday night and the flames rapidly engulfed large portions of the vehicle.
On being informed, three fire tenders from the Puri Fire Station rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after prolonged efforts. The swift response ensured the fire did not spread to nearby buses parked at the stand, preventing what could have been a major catastrophe involving multiple vehicles.
“We received information about the fire in a bus late Sunday night. Immediately, three fire tenders reached the spot and controlled the fire. As a result, the fire did not spread to adjacent buses, preventing a big mishap. The bus in which the fire erupted was severely damaged. Since the vehicle was empty at night, no one suffered any injuries,” said Assistant Fire Officer at Puri Fire Station Prabhat Kumar Rout.
The cause of the fire remains unclear, though preliminary suspicions point to a possible short circuit. An investigation is underway by both the fire department and police to determine the exact reason.
